Hora

La hora est une danse traditionnelle que l'on rencontre en Roumanie (hora au singulier ; hore au pluriel), en Moldavie, en Bulgarie (horo au singulier ; hora au pluriel), ainsi qu'en Israël.

La hora roumaine et moldave

C'est une ronde paysanne qui réunit toute l'assemblée en un grand cercle fermé ou ouvert. Les danseurs et les danseuses se tiennent par la main, font des pas en diagonale, soit en avant soit en arrière, tout en faisant tourner le cercle, en principe dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre.

On danse la hora lors de mariages ou de grandes fêtes populaires.

Une des plus célèbre est la Hora Unirii.

Hora in Romania and Moldova

Hora is a dance which gathers all people present in a big closed circle. The dancers hold each other by hands and the circle turns on itself usually clockwise as each participant follows a sequence of taking three steps forward and one step back.

Hora is popular during wedding celebrations, popular festivals, and it's an essential part of the social entertainment in rural areas.

One of the most famous horas is the Hora Unirii.

Hora en Israël

Le Hora est une danse folklorique incontournable en Israël.

Tout le monde se met en cercle, se donne les mains, et commence à faire un pas en avant vers la gauche avec le pied droit, rejoint ensuite par le pied droit. Ensuite, on ramène le pied gauche en arrière, à nouveau suivi du pied droit. Tout ceci se fait en se tenant les mains et tournant ensemble dans un mouvement rapide et joyeux vers la droite.

Pour les grands groupes, on peut créer plusieurs cercles, les plus petits à l'intérieur des plus grands.

Autrefois, le Hora était populaire dans les Kibbutzim et les petites communautés, puis devint un incontournable des mariages, célébrations et danses de groupe dans tout Israël.

La Hora peut se danser sur de nombreuses chanson traditionnelles des folkores klezmer et israëlien. Habituellement, la Hora se danse sur la musique de Hava Nagila, une chanson populaire célèbre en Israël et partout dans le monde.

Hora in Israel

Hora is the unofficial king of Israeli folk dances.

Everybody gets in a circle, holding hands and starts stepping forward toward the right with the left foot, then followed by the right foot to match. Bring the left foot back again followed by the right foot. All this is done while holding hands and circling together in a fast and cheerful motion to the right. In large groups you can create several circles while the smaller circles are inside the bigger circle and so on...

In the early days, Hora was popular mainly in the Kibbutzim and small communities, later on becoming a "must" in weddings, celebrations and group dancing all over Israel.

The Hora dance could be performed to many of the traditional klezmer and Israeli folk songs. Typically, Hora is danced to the music of Hava Nagila, a popular, well-known song in Israel and throughout the world.
